I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing animated series about kid heroes who rescue animals all around the world! 🌎 Not only does this family-friendly show teach fun animal facts, but it also highlights the importance of teamwork, leadership, respect for nature, and friendship. Gotta love that it has an awesome, catchy theme song too! 🎶
About the Show
Petronix Defenders is a family-friendly show that follows four young heroes who balance everyday school life with global animal rescue missions. Every episode, Matt, Emma, Tim, and Jia receive a special signal alerting them whenever an animal is in trouble anywhere in the world. Together they learn all about amazing animals in their natural environments. Their backpacks transform into loyal robot animal sidekicks with extraordinary transforming mecha powers… Pup-E, Kitt-10, Shell-E, and Paul-E! These superhero friends put their school work at Edwin Doolittle Elementary School on hold and leap into action, transforming into a brave rescue team known as the Petronix Defenders!
Parents appreciate the show’s engaging storylines, fun animal facts, and positive messages.
It has a TV-Y7 rating in the US, indicating it’s suitable for children aged 7 and older.
What Makes Petronix Defenders Special
This show inspires kids to face their fears and believe in themselves while encouraging their interest in Ethology, Problem Solving, and STEM. The Petronix Team doesn’t just save the day through bravery and invention. They also make mistakes, learn from them, encourage one another, and grow together. That’s a big part of what makes them feel so relatable.
It was also important to give Matt an energetic but natural-sounding kid voice that young audiences could feel connected to. If you’re a fan of adventures, animals, and positive storytelling, Petronix Defenders is a must-watch!
I’m the voice of Matt the adventurous leader of the Petronix team!
I love stories where creativity and kindness are treated like superpowers. That’s one of the reasons Petronix Defenders was such a fun series to work on. As the voice of Matt, I play a young hero who leads with enthusiasm and compassion. Matt is confident, inventive, and always ready to jump into action, but underneath all that energy is a huge heart.
As someone who spent years working with young people through educational theater, I especially appreciate characters who lead by inspiring others. Matt isn’t a great leader because he never struggles or makes mistakes. Matt is the kind of leader who keeps his team believing they can figure things out together.
Finding the balance between Matt’s kinetic leadership and genuine empathy was one of my favorite parts of giving him a voice. One of the biggest acting challenges was balancing Matt’s over-confidence with the caring that makes him so likable. He can be bold, playfully competitive, and occasionally hot-headed, but his heart is always in the right place.
Voicing the lead in this 52-episode animated series was such a rewarding challenge! Every episode focuses on collaboration, embracing differences, and facing challenges. One of the things I love most about this show is how it highlights teamwork and the unique strengths each character brings to the team. That reflects my experience being part of this cast led by our amazing English Voice Director Lindsay Sheppard.

It took an incredible team to record these episodes from our homes while collaborating across multiple time zones during the uncertainty of the pandemic! It’s always amazing to me to see all of our hard and dedicated work come together to create a show that is fun, genuinely funny, and educational!

Bringing Animated Boy Characters to Life with Voiceover
As a Female Voice Actor, one of the biggest surprises of my voiceover career has been just how often I get cast to voice male characters. It’s become one of my favorite specialties.
Finding a believable boy voice isn’t about making it “sound like a boy.” It’s about capturing their youthful energy in a way that feels fun and engaging but most of all authentic.
I know many talented women voice actors have brought iconic male characters to life in animation, from Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson to Sarah Natochenny as Ash Ketchum, and Regina King as Huey and Riley Freeman. I’m inspired by these talented women and strive to bring the same memorable energy to every new boy character I play!
Who knew that being a girl cast as “Oliver” in My High School musical would be a foreshadowing for being the voice of so many awesome boy characters for animation, video games, educational content, children’s media, and even occasionally commercials!
Finding Matt’s Voice
It was important to give Matt a natural-sounding kid voice.
Voicing unique animated characters means tapping into youthful energy, real emotions, and their distinct personalities—all skills I’ve built up working in interactive educational theater for young audiences and now apply every day as a full-time professional voice actor.
Many modern animated series, like Petronix Defenders, seek engaging, realistic, expressive, natural voices that resonate with kids and families.
Voicing Matt allowed me to tap into my own inner creative kid and I think that kind of relatable human approach in voiceover matters in children’s storytelling.
And I appreciate being a part of projects that entertain while encouraging empathy and respect for the natural world. Petronix Defenders inspires that without ever losing the fun.
